TWO EARLY 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CASED TANTALUSES. Consisting of: 1) figured mahogany veneer dome top case with ivory tombstone escutcheon, opening to reveal a baise covered fitted interior having a single cordial and four gilt accented blown decanters with stoppers 2) figured mahogany veneer with a flame birch rhombus inlay centered on top which opens to reveal a baise covered fitted interior having a pair of twist stem cordials and six gilt accented blown decanters with moulded stoppers. SIZE: 1) Case: 9-1/4″h x 7-1/2″x 7-1/2″; the decanters 6″h x 3″ x 3″; 2) Case: 8-3/4″h x 10″w x 6-3/4″d, the decanters measure 8″h x 2-1/2″w. CONDITION: 1) A few age checks in the case, two minor losses to veneer near base, cordial and decanters in very good condition. 2) Several Dutchman veneer repairs, age checks in case, two decanters cloudy and one with repair to the neck, otherwise in good condition. 9-90076 (1,000-1,500)
