MOLDED ZINC HORSE HEAD BUST. Second quarter 20th century. This unusual example of a trade sign originated at Marise Farm in New Jersey. Bust of a race horse within an oval frame on a wood mount depicted with open mouth and upright ears. SIZE: 36″ h x 22-1/2″ w x 22-1/2″ d overall. PROVENANCE: Marise Farm in Eatontown, NJ; home of the thoroughbred race horse Market Wise, 3rd place finisher in the 1941 Kentucky Derby and Champion Handicap Horse in 1943 stood at Stud. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Painted surfaces old but not original. Some damage to proper lower right corner of mounting board, otherwise very good. 9-22016 (4,000-6,000)
