H. S. (European, Late 19th Century) THE FISHER WOMEN. Large oil on canvas marine scene shows two women in country dress. One holding fish net with poles, the other holds baskets. They walk beside a seated boy leaning against a wood post. Several single mast fishing boats are seen on sandy beach. One with initials “H.S.” and dated “96”. Many boats are seen on a tranquil sea with two preparing to leave. Housed in a magnificent gold deep flower decorated gesso frame with gold liner. On back of frame is an old Dayton Art & Antiques label. SIZE: 24” x 42”. CONDITION: Craquelure, very good. 9-28446 (2,250-2,750)
