PROVENANCE: Signed certificate of provenance by Mme. Hengyi Aixinjueluo stating that to her recollection from the information that was provided to her by her ancestors this item is from the collection of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi, from the Empress Dowager Cixi’s reward.

RARE AND IMPORTANT IMPERIAL CARVED ZITAN TABLE. Chinese, Qing Dynasty. Constructed of lobular or small leaf zitan, known for its high density and small pin holes. Rectangular paneled top raised on square molded legs, the interior molded frieze bordering the legs and apron extensively carved with bats and cloud bands representing harmony and good fortune. The square section legs terminating in squared scrolls with molded edges joined by a conforming base stretcher also with squared scrolls. SIZE: 33″ h x 62″ l x 25-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: It is believed by the consignor to have been a gift from the Empress Dowager Cixi to Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi. By descent through the family to the great-granddaughter of Prince Duan. Signed letter of provenance by Mme. Hengyi Aixinjueluo accompanies this lot. CONDITION: Very good with highly polished surfaces. Some minor professional restoration, notably beneath the top, cosmetic in nature. 9-24092 (1,500,000-2,000,000)
