NORMAN ROCKWELL (American, 1894-1978) “HANDS” WITH SIGNED LETTER. Oil on board scene shows six hands reaching upwards, one grasping a ladder rung, one holding another hand which comes from above leaving four that are open. The work is done in shades of brown and tan. Housed in a modern carved and gilt molded wood frame with linen and gilt liner having a Guido Frame Studio label. NOTE: A letter on Stockbridge, Massachusetts letterhead dated July 30, 1963 in typed word reads: “Dear Mrs. Bradlee In regards to the “Hands” picture it was simply an idea I had to be used as a poster for some extremely good cause, but it never materialized. I am very glad that you liked it enough to purchase it. Kindest regards, Sincerely, (signed) Norman Rockwell”. Also the original envelope accompanies letter indicating it went to “Mrs. Sargent Bradlee 1025 Hale St. Beverly Farms, Mass.” The envelope having a “Norman Rockwell Stockbridge, Massachusetts” on back of envelope.
