ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN HALEY BELLAMY CARVED EAGLE PINE WALL PLAQUE. Second half 19th century. This example depicting a flying eagle clutching banner in beak. Literature: A similar example to this model is illustrated on page 73 of John Haley Bellamy Carver of Eagles by Yvonne Brault Smith. SIZE: 8″ h x 51″ w. CONDITION: Originally in white paint with polychrome decorated banner. Now stripped and polished showing remnants of old paint. The banner with losses to left outer end and to inner edge of right side beneath beak. The carving has multiple small nail holes from previous mounting. Overall good condition and restorable. 9-96536 (8,000-12,000)
