FINE CARVED AND POLYCHROME DECORATED 10-PANEL TABLE SCREEN. 19th century, China. Coromandel panels with calligraphy inset in carved, pierced and lacquer decorated frames. Ends with gilt Chinese characters. Centermost panels depicting scenes of every day life. SIZE: 36″ h x 65″ l overall. PROVENANCE: Fritz Hardenbrook Collection. Acquired during his travels from 1935-37 in China while South of Changsha. By descent through the family. CONDITION: Original hinges with old replacements, some dryness and cracks within pierce carved panels. Painted surfaces with minor flaking and dryness, but generally good. 9-27402 (3,000-5,000)
