HUGH BOLTON JONES (American, 1848-1927) NEW YORK SUMMER DAY. Large oil on canvas summer scene shows a woman with three sheep crossing a wood bridge over a stream. An expansive meadow is beyond with cows, trees, haystacks and figures. All under a gray, light blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left “H B Jones New York”. Housed in a fine and possibly original gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 41″ x 29″. PROVENANCE: Descended through the Easton family of Rhode Island. CONDITION: Very good. Relined, craquelure, faint stretcher lines visible. 9-93296 (4,000-8,000)
