ROBBINS & LAWRENCE MODEL 1841 MISSISSIPPI RIFLE W/BAYONET. Cal .58. 33” round bbl. The bayonet lug and bbl are 9839, bayonet is 9899. Lockplate and bbl tang are both dated 1851, bayonet dated 1862. The spare nipple and worm are both in the patchbox. The “WAT” cartouche on the left side of the stock is readable, the other is visible but not readable. A third cartouche, unreadable, is in the center of the left cheek of the stock. An unknown marking “3BK” is on the left side of bbl flat. Rear sight with folding leafs marked 300 and 500. NSN. CONDITION: Gray patina mixed with light pitting and patches of surface rust, brass has mellow patina. Wood has numerous dents and scratches but is still solid. Bayonet metal is about the same as the rifle. Leather scabbard has a bend in the middle and some cracking and chipping but is still solid. 4-49790 FS48 (2,000-3,000)
