MOLDED COPPER FULL BODY WEATHERVANE OF MASSASOIT. Late 19th, 20th century. Gilded overall with variegated verdigris patina depicting an archer, bow drawn, with three feather headdress, joined to an arrow with iron head and sheet metal feathers. Mounted on a museum stand. SIZE: Vane: 34-1/2″ h x 42″ l., overall 39″ h. PROVENANCE: Discovered in a barn in New York State. CONDITION: With the gilding probably later, verdigris along shaft of each arrow and otherwise verdigris is scattered throughout. Small seam splits on proper right arm, slight seam split and deterioration of vertical tube at entry to front leg with pellet indentations, otherwise very good. 9-23379 (18,000-22,000)
