ANGLO-INDIAN CARVED EBONY AND INLAID PRESENTATION BOX. The box retaining an oval silver plaque mounted at the center of top inscribed “Presented to Capt Kyle by A.H. F. Col. 9th, February 1869”; lavishly carved all over in a floral motif with a repeating leaf pattern. The hinged top opens to reveal an etched ivory inlaid interior top displaying opposing elephants encompassed by flowers. The box having a dovetailed compartmentalized lift-out satinwood tray having 19 kingwood, etched ivory and silver inlaid lids. Below which is an open compartment. SIZE: 8-1/2″h x 18-1/4″w x 11-3/4″d. CONDITION: Age checks to top, appears to be with original surface. Very good. 9-90063 (1,500-2,500)
