FINE ROYAL DRESDEN COVERED URN. This large example with paint decorated tableau depicting a maiden seated beneath trees feeding grapes to three young children while being serenaded by two putti playing stringed instruments centered by wide scrolling gilt decorated bands. The conforming lid with large pineapple knop on a high-luster brown ground. Beneath the base is an inscription in script beneath the base “APODENTIA./DEPOSE”. Also with a beehive mark in under-glaze blue. SIZE: 28-1/2″ h. CONDITION: One handle reattached to body. Minimal and minor wear to gilded surfaces, primarily at shoulder. 9-25479 (1,000-1,500)
