PAIR OF CHINESE SQUARE BACK HARDWOOD ARMCHAIRS. Mid 19th century. The bowed crestrail continuing to cylindrical stiles centering the serpentine shaped and molded rectangular splat, joined to the paneled plank seat. Each raised on cylindrical legs, the frontal legs with picture frame moldings, all joined by box stretchers and frontal foot rest. The legs with shaped bracket returns. SIZE: 40-1/2″ h of back, 21″ h of seat. PROVENANCE: Estate of William Hoeschle of Belfast, Maine. CONDITION: Professionally repolished with restoration to one crestrail. Very good overall with nice patina. 9-96577 (800-1,200)
