PAIR OF CHING DYNASTY GARDEN SEATS. Late 19th Century, China. These domestic examples were not intended for export. The dated garden seats polychrome decorated in shades of green, grays, blues and orange. The circular top with opposing fanciful Foo dogs within floral vinery. The sides with pierced bosses. Each decorated with a scene of artists and musicians, opposing scene of attendants bathing a young boy in front of a six-panel room divider, thought to be the boy chosen by the Empress Dowager CIXI to succeed her in the mid 1890’s. The borders with floral reserves. SIZE: 14-1/2″ h x approx. 11-1/4″ dia. CONDITION: Very good overall with no restoration or damage noted. 9-97662 (5,000-7,000)
