Additional Information: In response to various questions about this lot, we reiterate this lot is as cataloged and is a “colored lithograph” which means it was produced in either late 19th or early 20th Century. It is not an early hand colored version.

JOHN JAMES AUDUBON (American, 1785-1851) “RED-NECKED GREBE”. R. Havell Edition, 1836, No. 60, Plate CCXCVIII. Colored lithograph scene shows a male & female Grebe on the edge of water with blue & white cloud sky. Center bottom with title, bottom left “Drawn from Nature by J. J. Audubon, F.R.S. F.L.S.”. Lower right “Engraved, Printed & Coloured by R. Havell, 1836″. Housed in a reproduction birdseye maple frame with white matte and glass. SIZE: Paper: 26″ x 39-1/4”. PROVENANCE: From a Bar Harbor, Maine home. CONDITION: Examined out of frame. Some toning at margin edge, very good. Hinge mounted. 9-23358 (2,500-4,000)
