CARVED AND INLAID ARMCHAIR AND HASSOCK. Late 19th, early 20th century, Middle East Region. The curule form armchair carved overall with vinery in low relief, the arched crestrail with scrolled edges centering the Y-shaped splat with pierced spool turned and carved rondele joined to horizontal arms with scrolled grips on curved supports continuing through the seat all hinged to allow for folding continuing to crossed supports on shaped trestle feet. The whole with abalone inlaid rosettes. The hassock with overupholstered square seat raised on square legs carved with vinery joined by baluster and spool turned panels. SIZE: Back: 39″ h. Seat: 19-1/2″ h. Hassock: 20″ h x 15-1/2″ sq. CONDITION: Each with original surfaces, the hassock dry and crusty, the chair with some minor stress cracks in frame. Otherwise good. 9-29860 (300-500)
