MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE (American, 1904-1971) DAILY CHORES. Vintage black edged photograph, circa 1936, shows a woman making a bed in a rustic cabin with three-drawer chest and double bed. The photograph is mounted to a light cardboard backing which has a purple “A Margaret Bourke-White Photograph” stamp. Also inscribed in pencil “538”. At this time Margaret was in Georgia with Erskine Caldwell gathering photographs for their book “You Have Seen Their Faces”. We have been unable to find another image of this photograph published. SIZE: Photograph: 10″ x 13-1/4″. Total: 15″ x 22″. PROVENANCE: Erskine Caldwell’s wife (Mt. Vernon, Maine); to our consignor’s father through descent. CONDITION: Photograph is very good, mount has stains and creases. 9-99876 (2,000-4,000)
