UNSIGNED (American, First half of the 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF A GIRL WITH A RED ROSE. Outstanding oil on canvas portrait of a young girl seated in a black chair wearing a white dress, blue shoes, red three-string beaded necklace and holding a pink rose in lap. She is in a room setting with green drape with open window looking out to a landscape with mountains, river and trees. Housed in a period wood frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 34″ x 28″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Joan B. Hanson, Fair Haven, N.J. CONDITION: Professionally restored, relined on replaced stretcher with turn buckle mechanism. Inpainting, very good. 9-95835 (3,000-5,000)
