WARREN MCARTHUR ARMCHAIR & PAIR OF TRIANGULAR SIDE TABLES. Circa 1930-1933. Los Angeles, California. Warren McArthur (American, 1885-1961). The armchair with three brushed and polished slats, the tubular stiles continuing to flattened armrests on conforming supports continuing to frontal legs centering the square seat cushion frame, the whole raised on tubular legs with box stretchers, all with decorative polished molded discs. Each triangular table with three levels, all joined by three tubular legs with decorative polished elements. The tables with original paper label beneath the bottom shelf; the armchair with original paper label beneath proper left arm: “WARREN McARTHUR FURNITURE/LOS ANGELES, CALIF./PATENTS PENDING”Literature: Sarah Nicholes, ed., Aluminum by Design, exh. cat., Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, 2000, p.216-217 for similar examples.
