PAIR OF EARLY WARREN MCARTHUR ARMCHAIRS. Circa 1930. Los Angeles, California. Warren McArthur (American, 1885-1961). These armchairs represent Warren McArthur’s first published armchair design where the arms do not continue to be joined to the front legs. Each chair with three brushed and polished slats joined to tubular green enamel stiles continuing to the flattened arms raised on conforming supports centering trapezoidal deep seat, the whole raised on tubular legs with box stretcher, all with polished decorative discs. Each chair with original paper label beneath seat rail: “WARREN McARTHUR FURNITURE/LOS ANGELES, CALIF./PATENTS PENDING”. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate.
