SHARPS MODEL 1853 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal .52. 21-1/2” round bbl. This is a late model 1853 carbine with the saddle ring bar running to the rear. No cartouche appears on the stock but sub-inspector initials appear on some parts. The rear bbl sight is marked “R.S.LAWRENCE”. The staff of the sight is graduated to 8 and rounded at the front end. SN 21872. CONDITION: Smooth gray patina with scattered light pitting. Stock has been repaired below the sling ring bar, sanded lightly and varnished. Forearm screw and escutcheon are not entirely seated. Lever retainer spring is broken and the primer follower and spring are missing, otherwise mechanically fine. 4-49595 FS85 (2,000-3,000)
