CASED PAIR OF BAYLEY FLINTLOCK TRAVELER’S PISTOLS. NSN. 70 Cal. 8-1/4” irregular bbls. Marked “BAYLEY” on the top flat of the Damascus bbls. The casehardened breech plug has a platinum liner in the touchhole and a German silver bar and band. The lock is equipped with a safety, a roller frizzen and a waterproof pan. The walnut stock has a checkered butt, iron mountings and a swivel ramrod. Contained in a green velvet lined mahogany case with later Sykes bag flask, a small bullet mold and a military turn screw marked “D22”. CONDITION: Very good to fine. About half the brown finish remains on the Damascus pattern of the bbls. Casehardening on the lockplates has silvered out but the pattern remains. Wood has minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. Case has stains on the top and on the lining inside, but is still solid. Flask has dents on one side. Bullet mold has live rust. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58581 (4,000-6,000)
