FINE SHERATON INLAID MAHOGANY CARD TABLE, BRANDED “J. SHARPLEY”. Branded in four places on the backboards “J. SHARPLEY”, probably New York or Connecticut. The D-form figured mahogany top above the conforming frieze of bird’s-eye maple panels and satinwood stringing centering a mahogany panel with diamond-form figured birch inlay, raised on five ring-turned and reeded tapering cylindrical legs headed by diamond figured birch inlays with ringed cuffs and tapered feet. Circa 1830. SIZE: 30″ h. x 36″ w. x 17-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Vassalboro, Maine Family Estate. CONDITION: Early small breaks and weaknesses to legs; professionally restored, including removal of old iron brackets; three of four glue blocks original, retains old clean surface with small professional repairs to edging and some inlays. 9-92117 (2,000-4,000)
