AFTER CARLO MARATTA (Italian, 1625-1713) OLD MASTER – IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. Early 19th, possibly 18th Century unsigned oil on canvas copy of the famous work by Carlo Maratta that sits in San Isidoro, Basilica, Rome. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus. The infant holds a long spear with the tip at a snakes head at her feet. Cherubs and angels surround them in a heavenly type state. Housed in a good gilt fancy wood frame with name tag and dates. SIGHT SIZE: 25-3/4” x 18-3/4”. CONDITION: Very good. The painting has had at least two restorations with inpainting, relined. 9-29141 (2,000-4,000)
