AFTER SALOMON KONINCK (Dutch, 1609-1656) “PORTRAIT OF A BURGOMASTER”. Oil on wood panel shows a portrait of an elderly gentleman in a rich black velvet robe and a black broad rim hat. He wears a gold chain and medallion. His right hand rests upon an open book on the table beside him. This portrait is very much in the style of Rembrandt. Back of the panel has a cutout old catalog entry indicating the painting was from the Goldschmidt Collection, Paris and has a wax seal indicating it is from the collection of E. Fischhof, Paris. There also is a penned label indicating artist and number “741”. Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt modern frame with velvet and gold liner. Probably a fine 19th Century copy. SIZE: 13-1/4” x 10”.
