MANSFIELD & LAMB MODEL 1860 CAVALRY SABER. 35” dbl fuller blade marked “MANSFIELD / & LAMB / FORESTDALE R I” inside an oval on the left ricasso. “U.S. / J.C.W / 1864” is on the right ricasso. Iron scabbard with brazed seam on the bottom. The gold wire sword knot is attached to the rear of the guard. CONDITION: Blade is bright with scattered light surface rust and pitting. Hilt retains traces of a gilt finish but the branches are slightly bent. Leather cover of the grip shows two small areas of repair and some minor crackling. Scabbard has a gray/brown patina with moderate pitting towards the tip. Sword knot is solid but the strap is badly cracked. 4-54999-8 FS40 (400-600)
