UNSIGNED (European, 19th Century) THE UNWANTED ADVANCE. Oil on canvas interior scene shows a man in red shirt behind a woman seated in a chair and in the midst of getting up but being held by the man. Her spinning wheel and basket are falling over. An older woman is seen in doorway looking on. The interior setting with many features and detailed household items. Housed in a wide molded wood painted frame. SIZE: 23” x 19”. CONDITION: Wax relining, put on replaced stretcher. Restored with inpainting. Otherwise very good. 9-26166 (2,500-3,500)
