ORNAMENTAL EUROPEAN SILVER CHATELAINE CHARM HOLDER AND CHARMS. Late 19th, early 20th century. The bracket cast with mythical tailed creatures holding a bow-tied harp on a serpentine-scaled and hinged serrated holder, now mounted with approx. three dozen silver-metal charms, amulets, ornaments, and talismans. Most appear to have Middle Eastern influence, Judaic and Arabic in nature. Included are examples of tools and implements, human and fanciful torsos, various animals, keys, crescents, and heavenly bodies, all suspended by rings and attached to the bracket. Stamped on back of hanging bracket appears to be written the following: “CASA DAG SPAIN ACOSTA .0833”. There are no marks observed on any of the charms. SIZE: Dimensions of bracket: 5″ h. x 7″ l. Charms and trinkets run from 1″ l. (smallest) to 4-1/4″ l. (largest). CONDITION: Overall good original surfaces, no noted damages, very good overall condition. 9-92330 (300-500)
