WINCHESTER 2ND MODEL HOTCHKISS SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45-70. SN 4125. Standard carbine with 24” rnd bbl, square base front sight, ski jump carbine rear sight with “C”, mounted in a 1-pc nicely figured walnut stock with nickeled forend cap with trap containing a 2-pc iron wiping rod. It has 1-pc trigger guard and smooth carbine buttplate. The left side of the stock has a stud, missing the ring, and a fine “SWP / 1880” cartouche. Also, someone very proud of this carbine, stamped his initials “TFG” about forty times in various places on the wood. CONDTION: Fine. Metal retains about 75% thin original blue. Wood is sound and retains a fine hand rubbed patina. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-52924 JR397 (2,000-3,000)
