CONVERTED SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1830 MUSKET. Cal .69. 42-1/4” round bbl. Lockplate is dated 1838. The Hewes & Phillips conversion breech plug is dated 1862. The eagle and U.S. were ground off the lockplate during the conversion. The inspector cartouches on the left side of the stock are visible but not readable. NSN. CONDITION: Possibly unused since the conversion as the rear sight and nipple appear to be brand new. Wood has a mixed coating of dried oil, rust and dirt. Lock is bright. There is a break in the wood under the lockplate. Stock has been covered with varnish. It shows no wear. 4-49812 FS56 (1,500-2,500)
