RARE MAYNARD FIRST MODEL SPORTING RIFLE WITH SET TRIGGER. Cal .35. 26” part oct bbl. While this is a sporting rifle with built in tang sight and double set trigger, the stock has inspector cartouches “AM” on the left side. These cartouches are somewhat irregular and are probable spurious. The frame marking is “MAYNARD ARMS CO. / WASHINGTON.” on the right side and “MANUFACTURED BY / MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS” on the left. The front trigger is pushed forward to set the rear one. The markings on the patchbox cover are not readable. SN 3363. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall with small dents and light pitting on bbl and frame, heavier on the buttplate and patchbox. Stock retains about 70% of the varnish with some oil stains, dents and scratches. Tang sight staff is bent. Action is fine. 4-49795 FS49 (2,000-3,000)
