REMINGTON/ELLIOT ZIG ZAG 6-SHOT PEPPERBOX. Cal. 22 RF. SN 446. Blued finish, 3-1/4” bbl ribbed cluster with individual post front sights, 2-pc smooth gutta percha grips, ring trigger. Marked on left side of frame with patent dates & the right side with the address of manufacturer. These pepperboxes were made before the Civil War and it is believed that less than 1,000 were made. Consignor obtained this pepperbox from a family in Ilion, NY while on a research trip to the Remington factory. The family advised him that their grandfather gave this to their grandmother as a wedding present. CONDITION: Good with strong traces of blue along bbl ribs & faint traces of silver on frame. Grips have minor chips at the base and are slightly faded. Bores are lightly pitted, mechanically good. 4-59351 JH112 (2,000-3,000)
