SEVRES (French, 19th Century) THE CLASSICAL WARRIOR. Rare and outstanding porcelain and bronze figure of a standing man wearing a plume topped helmet, cape, armored outfit standing beside his outer armor outfit. His right hand holding a sword which is not present and the left hand holding a scabbard which also is not present. The figure having white porcelain arms, head and legs. There are parts that are bronze metal including the plume and cape, other parts are bronze painted porcelain. The round base being a goldish bronze paint over porcelain, the base having incised Sevres mark having two dots above and two dots below. Also numbered “73” with a script capital “B”. SIZE: 16″ h. PROVENANCE: From a South Carolina home. CONDITION: As noted above with some rubs but generally very good. 9-95306 (3,000-5,000)
