JEAN BAPTISTE CLESINGER (French, 1814-1883. “THE DEATH OF CLEOPATRA”. Bronze figure of a recumbent Cleopatra holding a snake in one hand and with other arm extended. She wears a sheer robe and looks upward. Signed “J.Clesinger Rome 1861” and “F.Barbedienne Fondeur” and with a medallion “Reduction Mecanique a.collas brevette:” Wonderful, dark brown patina.
