VERY LARGE HOMEMADE KNIFE.

VERY LARGE HOMEMADE KNIFE. Large decorative knife with curved clip point Bowie shaped blade, about 17” x 2”, with a modest curve, flat ground, probably made from an old saw blade. It has an iron hand guard with a massive crown stag handle. There is a polished area on the bottom of the handle that has very old hand scratched letters “Hoyt / 1 VA Regt”. It has an iron ferrule at the hand guard. CONDITION: Blade & handle show decent age with pitting on the blade and a wonderful dark patina on the handle. This knife has possible Confederate use, but we are unable to guarantee authenticity. 4-51049 JR986 (300-500)
