ENGRAVED REMINGTON NEW MODEL ARMY CARTRIDGE CONVERSION REVOLVER. Cal. 46 CF. SN 97757. Conversion #EE10 on left side of loading lever & on left side of frame under grip. Nickel finish with 8” oct bbl with crisp bbl markings, 2-pc walnut grips, pinched front sight. Consignor states that revolver came from Remington Factory Museum through Arnie Chernoff & Ron Ogan. It was an experiment since the 46 cal. CF cartridge was never commercially manufactured and marketed. Cylinder stamped with “PATENTED APRIL 3D”. Circa 1866-1874. This was originally a military revolver as it has inspector marks on various parts. The floral scroll engraving extends from front of frame onto rear of bbl and simple sine wave lines are under cyl on both sides of frame. CONDITION: Generally fine, most surfaces have been cleaned without affecting the nickel. Grips have minor nicks & dents. Bore is good. Action is fine. 4-59325 JH43 (4,000-6,000)
