JULES BRETON (French, 1827-1906) PRINTEMPS. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows a young French woman hoeing a garden in the springtime. She is seen in country dress with pink top and black skirt. She wears a white and red cloth bandana over her hair. Blossoming trees are seen on the right side with a field in back ending in a tree line. Signed lower right “Jules Breton 1902”. Housed in a gilt gesso decorated replacement frame. SIZE: 38” x 31-3/4”. CONDITION: Craquelure, small chip on shoulder, inpainting. Very good. 9-71187 (120,000-150,000)
