NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY DROP-LEAF TABLE. Second half 18th century, Massachusetts or Rhode Island. The rectangular top with hinged leaves having notched corners projecting above the conforming apron with scalloped edge. Raised on four angular cabriole legs, terminating in well defined talon and ball feet. SIZE: 27″ h x 13-3/4″ closed w x 36-1/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Westerly, Rhode Island estate. CONDITION: Legs with restoration at apron and in need of further strengthening and restoration, otherwise good. 9-28343 (1,500-2,500)
