EDWARD LAMSON HENRY (American, 1841-1919) “THE KOEFFEL & OLD CHURCH AT OBERAMMERGAU”. Oil on board Bavarian scene shows three workers in a field with a town beyond having large church with onion shaped steeple. Also having a large mountain peak in the background supporting a large cross. Unsigned front but the back having a pencil inscription “The Koeffel & Old Church 2000 FT high at Oberammergau Bavarian Alps, a sketch from nature Sept. 1871 by E.L. Henry”. Housed in a decorative bronze gilt with double mattes. SIZE: Sight: 9-3/4″ x 13-3/4″. CONDITION: Bottom corner edge with slight paint loss, left margin has 2″ tight surface tear. 9-21813 (2,000-4,000)
