RARE DECORATED “PERUVIAN BARK” APOTHECARY DISPLAY JAR. Mid 19th century, possibly British. Fine oversized reverse painted glass example with lid featuring a large gilt decorated scrolling emblem over a small red banner with Greek text above a large scrolling blue banner marked “PERUVN.BARK”. SIZE: 23″ h x 12″ d. CONDITION: Butterscotch colored ground mostly intact as is the gilding. Blue background of the banner and of the emblem has deteriorated. Structurally very good. 9-20264 (1,200-2,200)
