LARGE PAINT DECORATED BRIDE’S BOX. Early 19th Century German. In original paint, the lid depicting a bear in pursuit of a deer and a rabbit in a wooded landscape. In the sky is a 2-line German verse. The sides decorated with bands of floral garland. SIZE: 7-1/4″ h x 18-1/4″ l x 11-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine. CONDITION: Painted surfaces original, somewhat dry with surface dirt and with normal and expected wear to edges. The bottom band split and in need of refastening. Otherwise good. 9-20805 (600-900)
