ELLA PHILLMORE LILLIE (American, 1884-1972) “THE FAMILY’S FARM ENTERPRISE”. Large oil on canvas southern scene shows a large family gathered outside their shanty, each involved in some activity. A woman tends to a cooking pot, a man smokes a cigar on the porch, a woman washes clothes, a child riding a pig pulling its tail, a woman beats clothes and livestock are scattered in the scene including pigs and chickens. Signed lower right. Signed and titled on reverse of canvas. Housed in a white painted molded wood frame. A partial label is in corner of stretcher which is illegible. SIZE: 28″ x 36″.
