CONSTANTIN ALAJALOV (American, 1900-1987) PREPARATIONS FOR THE OFFICER’S BALL. Gouache illustration shows a woman resting after a long day while her maid prepares her evening outfit in a fancy room setting. The clock shows 7 o’clock and a long night is ahead of her. This artist illustrated for the New Yorker magazine and the Saturday Evening Post but we have been unable to find this particular illustration. Housed in a white and blue painted frame with a white linen matte. Written on back is “Fatigue Duty” and “January 1942″. SIZE: Sight: 14″ x 10”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-97180 (3,000-5,000)
