COLT MODEL 1861 NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER WITH ANCHOR INSPECTION MARK. Cal. 36 Perc. SN 2810. All matching except the wedge which is numbered to another revolver. Blued finish, 7-1/2” rnd bbl with one line marking on bbl with anchor at the end, German silver blade front sight with casehardened hammer & loading lever, faint cylinder scene with extremely sharp SN, brass triggerguard, 1-pc smooth walnut grips. All six safety pins are present. This relatively hard to find Colt was manufactured in early 1861, the first year of production. It saw Civil War service in the U.S. Navy and is verified by the anchor stamp placed on the barrel during an 1866 inspection of Civil War Naval inventory. The anchor mark indicates that the revolver is okay for return to service. CONDITION: Good. All iron parts have been cleaned & chemically treated, enhancing the appearance of the finish. Mottled patina on the backstrap & triggerguard with some battering at the butt. Sides of grip also have numerous dents & scratches under the newly applied varnish. Bore is evenly pitted.
