SARAH MULLMER’S NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, RIDGE HERTS, HERTFORDSHIRE, GREAT BRITAIN. Circa 1796. With alphabet and numerical lines above a row of stylized flowers and trees above an extensive verse over an additional line of stylized trees with deer and birds above an additional section of an extensive verse with four sample borders and the final signature line reading “Sarah Mullmer Her Work Ridge Herts A.D.: 1796″. The border of scrolling vinery is obscured beneath the frame. Housed in a later veneered frame. SIZE: Sight Size: 14-1/2″ x 12-3/4”. PROVENANCE: From a Private Collection. CONDITION: Very good overall with some discoloration to upper half and to lower signature area. 9-94175 (1,500-2,000)
