NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY SLANT-LID DESK. Last quarter 18th century. The rectangular dovetailed case with hinged sloping lid opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of drawers over valenced pigeon holes centering a string inlaid prospect door. The case with four serpentine long drawers, the uppermost flanked by lopers. The molded base raised on delicate ogee bracket feet with scalloped returns. SIZE: 42″ h x 41-3/8″ w x 21″ d. CONDITION: With cleaned repolished surfaces. Repair to left facing edge of lid. Replaced hardware of the period. Small repairs to proper left rear foot. 9-29618 (3,000-5,000)
