FINE CARVED PINE EAGLE WALL PLAQUE. Mid 19th century, New England. The displayed eagle, above a patriotic shield, depicted clutching a brace of arrows. Polychrome painted overall. The plaque carved from a single board, the carved arrows applied. SIZE: 18″ h x 48″ wingspan x 5″ d CONDITION: Structurally very good, retaining old if not original painted surfaces over gesso. Painted surfaces showing appropriate and expected wear. Back of plaque with old horizontal shrinkage cracks. Generally very good. 9-27805 (2,000-3,000)
