HANDEL REVERSE PAINTED BIRD LAMP. Circa 1923. This domical shade is painted with two vibrant parrots and a single large butterfly to other side. The birds and butterfly are painted in primary hues of blues, yellows and oranges. This is set against a highly unusual charcoal-gray background, seldom seen in reverse painted lamps. Finishing the shade is a large allover Art Nouveau floral and leaf pattern painted in soft tans. Shade is supported by a single column acanthus leaf decorated base with circular foot, three sockets, acorn pull chains, top cap and finial. Base has a very pretty reddish-brown patina finish with green highlights. Shade is signed on the interior “Handel 7023”. Base is signed on the underside “Handel”. SIZE: Shade is 18″ dia.
