GEORGE HERBERT MCCORD (American, 1848-1909) SKATING AT SUNSET. Fine oil on canvas winter scene shows three youngsters on frozen water near a village dotted with houses & church steeple. One child holds a stick, the other a sled. A wonderful, bright sunset sky from light blue to yellow gold over distant mountains. Signed lower right and dated “87”. Housed in a magnificent gilt gesso decorated frame with multi-gilt liners. SIZE: 12″ x 20″. CONDITION: Relined, minor painting. Very good. 9-23589 (6,000-8,000)
