WILLIAM MORRIS HUNT (American, 1824-1879) TALL POPLARS. Oil on canvas evening scene shows a setting sun behind tall poplar trees and rock outcropping. Wonderful sky from deep green to peach. Signed with initials lower left “WMH”. Housed in its original gesso decorated frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 17″ x 7-3/4″. CONDITION: Restored, craquelure, very good. 9-22703 (2,500-3,500)
